The Mission of Miracle Flights for Kids

When setting out to found a nonprofit, one must have clear goals and missions. In 1985, Miracle Flights for Kids was founded on the mission to improve access to health care by assisting with part of a financial burden for low income children that need to utilize commercial air travel in order to receive special medical care. Since that time, Miracle Flights for Kids has become the nation’s leading nonprofit health and welfare flight organization. There are few companies of its kind that are designed especially for low income families as a way to help their children to access specialized care to reach the doctors that can provide the care they need.

The Mission of Miracle Flights for Kids

Having a clear mission is so important for any cause and in 1985 Miracle Flights for Kids was founded with a mission to improve access to health care by assisting with part of a financial burden for low income children that need to utilize commercial air travel in order to receive special medical care. Since then, they have become the nation’s leading nonprofit health and welfare flight organization. There are few companies like Miracle Flights for Kids as it is designed especially for low income families as a way to help their children that need more specialized care to reach the doctors that can provide that specialized care.

Miracle Flights Focuses On Awareness And Education

Without public awareness of its daily work, Miracle Flights simply wouldn’t exist. However, through robust outreach programs, leadership regularly shares its goals and mission with others to ensure services for worthwhile individuals carry on.

The Miracle Flights mission statement states: “We provide financial assistance to low-income children for commercial air travel to obtain special medical care; to promote awareness of our services through targeted outreach programs; to enlist the help of community-minded people through strategic calls to action.” In addition to a sharp focus on transportation to medical services, staff places a significant emphasis on educating the public about the organization. This comprehensive campaign to share Miracle Flights’ message doesn’t simply put the nonprofit into the public eye; rather, it helps attain increased donations and volunteerism hours from interested members of the community.

The needs for the charity consistently grow, particularly as it surpasses its 30th year of existence, assists more and more individuals (including expanding assistance beyond only kids) and nears its 100,000th flight. Reaching out to the community -- a community that may, some day, require the help of Miracle Flights -- is a must as the nonprofit continues this growth into the next 30 years.

The Classroom Fundraiser for Miracle Flights

At Miracle Flights for Kids, they work to provide free transportation to children (and their families) who are suffering from serious illnesses or medical conditions. This is neither a cheap nor an easy project and it involves a lot of moving parts, planning, and, obviously, quite a few flights. Miracle Flights for Kids has become the leading medical flight organization in the country, so it is important that they keep up their good work.

Miracle Flights for Kids has coordinated more than 96,000 medical flights for children through their organization. Those flights account for more than fifty-million miles of medical air travel for children helped by Miracle Flights for Kids. The organization was founded more than thirty years ago by current President Ann McGee.

The things accomplished by Miracle Flights for Kids on a daily basis could not have been done without the support of a large network of thousands of volunteers. This is why Miracle Flights for Kids is so appreciative of efforts like that of the students of Enterprise Elementary School in Enterprise, Oregon. They donated more than $200 to Miracle Flights for Kids after hosting a bake-sale and designating Miracle Flights for Kids as their charity of choice. It should be noted that the students blew their fundraising goal out of the water, as it was originally set at $100!
